  2. BORDER'S & FRAMES IV USER'S GUIDE

  4.         All documentation assumes you have a basic understanding of how to use your computer and the programs you have purchased for it.

  6. BASIC REQUIREMENTS
  7. -------------------
  8.         Borders & Frames IV images require application(s) that are compatible with EPS and TIF file formats. All EPS images are saved using Adobe Illustrator. All TIF images are saved with Adobe Photoshop. Any other hardware or software requirements will be based primarily on the applications you use and the type of final output you plan to produce.

  10.         The illustrations in this collection are each provided in 2 file formats. They are grouped in the Images folders and differentiated by file name as follows:

  12. EPS and TIF FILES:

  14.         Ñ Illustrator 3.0, naming convention 001BRB04.EPS (Black-and-White)
  15.         Ñ Illustrator 3.0, naming convention 001BRC04.EPS (Color)
  16.         Ñ Photoshop 2.5, 300 dpi, naming convention 001BRB04.TIF (Black-and-White)
  17.         Ñ Photoshop 2.5, 300 or 170 dpi, naming convention 001BRB04.TIF (Grayscale)
  18.         Ñ Photoshop 2.5, 170 dpi, naming convention 001BRC04.TIF (CMYK)

  21. EXTENSIS PORTFOLIO BROWSER

  23. Included on the CD is a copy of the Extensis Portfolio¬ Browser. The Extensis Portfolio Browser can be run off the CD, no installation is required. Simply open the Extensis Portfolio Browser folder and double-click the Artworks Catalog.fdb file to open the electronic catalog with the Portfolio Browser. In the Extensis Portfolio Browser folder is a file called "Portfolio 3.0 Browser QSG.pdf" this file contains instructions on how to use the Portfolio Browser. The Adobe¿ Acrobat Reader must be installed on your computer first in order to view any Acrobat (PDF) files. See below for Adobe Acrobat Reader installation instructions.

  25. Extensis Portfolio Browser application: This application allows you to "browse" a catalog of images. You can view thumbnail versions of the images in the catalog, search for images by keywords, preview images, and copy them to your hard drive.

  27. Artworks Browser catalog: This catalog contains all the images in this Artworks package.

  29. YOU DO NOT NEED EXTENSIS PORTFOLIO¬ BROWSER OR ANY OF THE ITEMS IN THE CATALOG FOLDER TO USE THE ARTWORK ON THE CD.

  32. ADOBE ACROBAT READER INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

  34. The installation program for "Adobe Acrobat Reader 3.01╙ can be found in the "Extensis Portfolio Browser" folder. Double-click the Reader 3.01 Installer icon.

  39. USING THE ARTWORK ON THIS CD

  41. PAGE LAYOUT PROGRAMS:
  42.         Open your page layout program. Create a new document and PLACE the EPS or TIF files as you would any other images. The following page layout programs are compatible with EPS file formats:

  44.         Ñ QuarkXPress
  45.  
  46. DRAW PROGRAMS:
  47.      To edit the EPS files, OPEN or IMPORT them with your draw program.
  48.         EPS files:

  50.             Ñ Macromedia Freehand        
  51.             Ñ Corel DRAW! (Import)

  53. PAINT PROGRAMS:
  54.         The TIF files can be manipulated like any other bitmap images in the following programs:

  56.         Ñ Corel Photo-Paint

  58. If your application was not listed above, please refer to your manual for compatibility.
